I’ve been craving a beach getaway for some time now and I finally got one. Needless to say it was much needed and reminded me of how much I’ve missed the sea. Growing up competing in water sports like sailing and windsurfing, I was always in the water and I started to take that for granted. I also took my perpetual tan for granted – hello pasty skin.
Luxury was not a necessity for me, I simply wanted some place quiet, and right on the beach. I ended up choosing Bintan Spa Villa, a comfortable place, away from the crowd and with a beach hut/room right on the water so you could always hear the waves, except during low tide, when the water would recede so far back that you could walk out on sand all the way the rocky islands about one hundred metres from the shoreline.
Though the water was shallow enough to make the trek out even when the tide was in, which I was so excited to do. I was so excited to walk out in both low and high tide just for fun, that Jiv was just like – REALLY? After which he chastised me: this is why you have a sun burn. Much to my chagrin. The sun burn, not the telling-off, I’m a rebel like that. In my defence I did apply sunblock. I just loved sitting in the sun too much and it probably washed off from me sitting in the water since I’m secretly a mermaid. #mermaidsince1993
I do enjoy a good activity-filled beach holiday, but I needed this, just me, Jiv and some quiet time. Alright, I’m off now to reapply body lotion onto my thighs. Well worth it, I think.
